The two things that determine if I will read your email immediately, delete it, or put it in the “when I have time on my hands” pile, are: the From line and Subject line. Just because an email passes my “From” test, doesn’t mean I’ll open it. In fact, all the emails in my dislike pile were from recognized names in the From line.
But – can you see which group looks value-driven and probably has some great content vs. the group that is just going to send me to a sales page or affiliate link? If your email box is full, which group will you check out and which will you delete?
* Do you email on a schedule? If you look at the lists above again, you’ll notice that the first list ALL mail on a schedule. Some are weekly and one is daily. But the senders have trained me to anticipate their next mailing because I know when to expect it.Personally, I like to send emails weekly or bi-weekly. Although many marketers mail several times a week (or several times a day) – you and I will quickly part ways if I feel you are badgering me. The only exceptions are daily emails recapping blog posts.On the other hand, if you email too infrequently, people will forget who you are, why they signed up for your list, or even IF they signed up for your list. The very outer time-limit I would consider would be monthly, IF you promote a monthly newsletter.
* Do you provide valuable content? I remember when I started online in the late 90s. The rule of thumb was two emails of content for every promotional email. That may have disappeared about the same time as floppy discs, because there’s enough content-less emails to last me the rest of my life!If you want to build a brand, virally build your subscriber list, and have them begging for more; give before you receive. Don’t simply hammer people for money.
* Does your email have personality? Creating curiosity convinces me to open your email, but if your message is bland and boring, that will be the last time. You don’t have to be the Last Comic Standing for your personality to shine through. But if your email has no LIFE, your bank account will be DEAD.Be sure to check back or, better yet, sign up for our RSS Feed. Using "Free"Advertising

Q: I keep reading about people who say “free” advertising works and others say it doesn’t. Does the so-called free advertising work or not? Also, what do they mean “free?” It takes time to do this type of advertising doesn’t it?
A: I have seen questions just like this one all over the Internet. Yes, free advertising does work and it works well for many people who use it. For those who say it doesn’t work truly don’t know how to use this form of advertising to its total advantage.
Using free advertising takes time, and a lot of it, to make it work properly. You as an advertiser, of free advertising, need to be dedicated, persistent, and driven. You will need to do a lot of research and testing on every aspect that can be used in free advertising. This is what takes the most time.
When those who are familiar and know how to use free advertising properly call it free, they mean they are not spending money on their advertising and making a profit while doing so. So they have turned their blood, sweat, and tears into a way of watching their business budget in a way that most overlook. Your advertising budget can eat away a lot of your business profits faster than any other business bill out there is you don’t watch out. If you’ve got more time than money, free advertising should be considered.
Q: What exactly does it take in detail to really make free advertising work for me as a person who has limited money resources with which to advertise? I know you mentioned research, dedication, persistence, and to be driven above. Could you elaborate more on this please?
A. To make free advertising work on a limited budget. Do not expect it to happen immediately (the first day or two). You will need to place a minimum of three hundred ads a day to make any headway. (Yes, I did say three hundred and it is a manageable thing to do.) The more ad sites that you have on your list, the better your chances are, as it takes anywhere between five to seven times for any prospect to see your ad before they take action on it.
Research. Do a little research every day to add more ad sites to your list, and while you are looking for at them, check to see how many other people are advertising the same type of product as you are. This is especially important if you are a member of an affiliate organization. If you see more than five or six ads of the same thing as you are advertising, move on to the next ad site. You will also need to research which ad headlines and text bodies are working well for you by keycoding your URL somehow. By keycoding your URL, you will be able to track your ads better.
Dedication. You have to be dedicated to placing ads everyday in order to pull in more business. Set a time aside for you to do this everyday no matter what. You also have to have the dedication to keep on looking for new ad sites to add to your list everyday. Be dedicated to your business and to yourself. After all, you are the owner of your business.
Persistent. Be persistent in everything you do with your business. Your ad placing, your research, the knowledge of your business (keep up on any changes that will be happening in your industry or company). Don’t let one No throw you off track. As you will get nine No’s before you get one Yes.
Driven. You will need to be driven to keep placing ads on free ad sites. The more you place everyday, the more you will succeed.
Q: Should I use my personal e-mail account when placing ads?
A: No way!!! Open a free email account with Hotmail, Yahoo, or any other free email service, because you will receive tons of spam into your email account from placing ads. There are a lot of people who will harvest your email account, email you to pitch their own business without even really looking at yours, or both.
Q: Are there any other cost effective ways that I can use to promote my business online?
A: Sure there are tons of free marketing sites out there. I will list a few here:
Traffic Exchanges. It is best to use the
manual exchanges that have you click on a number or symbol instead of the
auto traffic exchanges in which you open the window and it surfs while you are doing something else.

Q: I keep reading about people who say “free” advertising works and others say it doesn’t. Does the so-called free advertising work or not? Also, what do they mean “free?” It takes time to do this type of advertising doesn’t it?
A: I have seen questions just like this one all over the Internet. Yes, free advertising does work and it works well for many people who use it. For those who say it doesn’t work truly don’t know how to use this form of advertising to its total advantage.
Using free advertising takes time, and a lot of it, to make it work properly. You as an advertiser, of free advertising, need to be dedicated, persistent, and driven. You will need to do a lot of research and testing on every aspect that can be used in free advertising. This is what takes the most time.
When those who are familiar and know how to use free advertising properly call it free, they mean they are not spending money on their advertising and making a profit while doing so. So they have turned their blood, sweat, and tears into a way of watching their business budget in a way that most overlook. Your advertising budget can eat away a lot of your business profits faster than any other business bill out there is you don’t watch out. If you’ve got more time than money, free advertising should be considered.
Q: What exactly does it take in detail to really make free advertising work for me as a person who has limited money resources with which to advertise? I know you mentioned research, dedication, persistence, and to be driven above. Could you elaborate more on this please?
A. To make free advertising work on a limited budget. Do not expect it to happen immediately (the first day or two). You will need to place a minimum of three hundred ads a day to make any headway. (Yes, I did say three hundred and it is a manageable thing to do.) The more ad sites that you have on your list, the better your chances are, as it takes anywhere between five to seven times for any prospect to see your ad before they take action on it.
Research. Do a little research every day to add more ad sites to your list, and while you are looking for at them, check to see how many other people are advertising the same type of product as you are. This is especially important if you are a member of an affiliate organization. If you see more than five or six ads of the same thing as you are advertising, move on to the next ad site. You will also need to research which ad headlines and text bodies are working well for you by keycoding your URL somehow. By keycoding your URL, you will be able to track your ads better.
Dedication. You have to be dedicated to placing ads everyday in order to pull in more business. Set a time aside for you to do this everyday no matter what. You also have to have the dedication to keep on looking for new ad sites to add to your list everyday. Be dedicated to your business and to yourself. After all, you are the owner of your business.
Persistent. Be persistent in everything you do with your business. Your ad placing, your research, the knowledge of your business (keep up on any changes that will be happening in your industry or company). Don’t let one No throw you off track. As you will get nine No’s before you get one Yes.
Driven. You will need to be driven to keep placing ads on free ad sites. The more you place everyday, the more you will succeed.
Q: Should I use my personal e-mail account when placing ads?
A: No way!!! Open a free email account with Hotmail, Yahoo, or any other free email service, because you will receive tons of spam into your email account from placing ads. There are a lot of people who will harvest your email account, email you to pitch their own business without even really looking at yours, or both.
Q: Are there any other cost effective ways that I can use to promote my business online?
A: Sure there are tons of free marketing sites out there. I will list a few here:

Making Excuses to Work From Home
It is important to be clear that you’re starting a home business as a means toward fulfilling a personal goal, but don’t let other goals stand as excuses not to act. Making the decision to invest hard-earned savings or quit a job is difficult. We all worry that it might be a mistake. Here are some common excuses people sometimes use to avoid making these tough choices.
I need to keep working so my children can go to college. Yes, large, looming financial obligations can keep you rooted in your job. But isn’t it possible that your children will also benefit from watching and participating in a home business? If you’re afraid to take a risk, won’t they likely hold back from trying to achieve their dreams, too? Make a college fund an important goal of the home business, and go after it!
I need my current job because of health benefits. Believe it or not, you can get health insurance as a self-employed person. It’s possible that, depending on your personal circumstances, it will cost more. But as a home business entrepreneur you might be able to earn more than you do in your current job. Don’t let the health care issue scare you off. Investigate what it would cost, build that expense into your business opportunity lead, and see if it works.
I’m worried about not having enough money for retirement. A legitimate concern, but how secure is your current job anyway? And are you making yourself miserable today, your best years from a health stand point, just so you can be comfortable in 10, 20, or 30 years? You can run your own business opportunity lead and plan for retirement. And you might be happier along the way!
My current employer just couldn’t get along without me. If that’s true, then they should be offering you some equity in the business! More likely, while they would miss you, the truth is that everyone is dispensable. If you got hit by a bus tomorrow, they’d find someone to replace you. Think of yourself first.
My husband wouldn’t like it or my wife wouldn’t stand for it. In a healthy relationship partners support each other’s goals and dreams and want the other to be happy. Talk to your spouse. If starting a home business is something you really feel strongly about, find out why your spouse is opposed to it and see if there isn’t some compromise. Who knows, you might be surprised to find out that he or she isn’t so dead set against it after all!
I just couldn’t afford it. If you’re up to your armpits in credit card debt and the mortgage payment is a challenge each month, you might not be the greatest candidate for taking a flyer on an unproved home business idea. But you can still tackle your business as well as a personal financial plan to get out of your current predicament. Challenge yourself to be in a position to start your business opportunity lead in three or five years. Stick to the plan and make it happen.
These are all reasons but are also excuses for NOT taking action. You must be an action Taker. This very important so I'll say it again. You must be an action taker.
Don't wish you did or hoped you did. Get out here and give it a go. You will need a plan just like any good business needs a plan so will you. A big part of your plan will be to choose what type of business you want to have. I prefer affiliate marketing for me its a quick way to get started. There are "plug in profits" type programs out here that work very well. Everything has been setup for you, everything except driving traffic to your site. I'll cover how to do this next time.
My 2cents worth would be to select something you already know how to do or like to do. ie: hobbies, cooking, gardening, etc.. another great idea is a knowledge based program how to's are very popular for online business. chances are if you want to learn it others will too.
